Charter Dinner 2009
Speaking at the recent Annual Charter Anniversary Dinner in the Trident Hotel, Kinsale Lion President P.J.Power reviewed progress of the past year.
I am proud to announce that Kinsale Lions Club is having a Baby. Yes!
Our Branch Club in Clonakilty will be Chartered this year as a new independent Clonakilty and District Lions Club. Amazing progress has been made by them with 14 members already, the Christmas Food Appeal, St Pat’s Day Parade, Spectacle collection and a new year’s programme planned, under the leadership of Coordinator Anne O’Neill.
We continue to raise money for the Children’s Club of C.U.H. - € 25,000 again for Disney trip for 40 sick children and their carers.
We support the Kinsale Day Care Centre with € 24,000 given this year (and a Show Band Dance imminent, on Friday, May 15th in Actons, € 15 a ticket)
We partake in the Cork Marathon to raise money for Defibrillators for Kinsale. The Lions Club heads this campaign.
We continue to support the elderly with our day away trips, our Seniors’ lunch and the
Day Care Centre-
We continue to support the Community School by way of an annual Bursary.
The Annual Golf Classic gives us the wherewithal to support, annually, the various charities in the town – becoming more important than ever in present economic circumstances. The 2009 event will be at Kinsale Golf Club On Thursday 9th. July next.
